Human Indifference Causes Endless Suffering for Dogs

Most of us would never dream of hurting a dog, and we like to think that most people treat all of their pets well. But just because you don’t hear about it very much on the radio tens of thousands of dogs live every day of their lives in pain. Animal torture is not on the front pages of newspapers.

Thousands of dogs live suffer mentally and phisically every day in puppy mills. Stop this pointless suffering: Do not purchase puppies from pet stores or over the Internet.

The fact is, animal torture is rampant around the world, taking place in spaces such as closed-off backyards, private properties, and remote farms. Out of sight, out of mind, right? And what's worse - cruelty to animals is legal in most countries including the United States and Canada.

But each of us has the power to change this staggering trend. All it takes is a bit of time and effort on our part to help make a difference in the way animals are treated. The first step, though, involves learning more about the faces of animal cruelty. This site deals specifically with creating public awareness around the torture of dogs, and you are invited to read on and share what you have learned with others.

About Puppy Mills - Legalized Torture

Puppy mill
This is where the parents of cute pet store puppies spend their entire lives. Learn how you can tell ten million people about this atrocity in only a few days for free!
A puppy mill is a commercial breeding operation where dogs are bred under horrific conditions purely for profit. The breeders don't care about the dogs' health and well being. Dogs are bred in their first heat cycle and then twice a year after that, giving birth to a dozen litters before they get too old, around the age of five.

Then they are killed or simply left to die.

Their feet never touched grass during their miserable lives. They are kept in tiny cages their entire lives, in which they freeze in the winter and swelter in the summer. In addition, these dogs often go blind and lose their teeth and frequently develop painful diseases. But most of us only ever see those cute little pet-storefront puppies.

Yes, the puppies of these adult dogs are shipped to pet stores or sold online. When we buy a dog from a pet store, we support puppy mills without even knowing it.

Part of the solution is simple: Stop buying dogs from pet stores! Instead, adopt a dog from your local animal shelter or rescue organization.
People think it's only a matter of time before these horrid places shut down, but the truth is that most puppy mills are legal, since our laws don't protect dogs! Please educate everyone you know about how disgraceful puppy mills are and ask politicians to address this rampant problem and be a force of legal change.

Of course, we wish for change in the treatment of dogs, but we also feel powerless, because we can’t realistically adopt every abused dog to keep them out of harms way, or volunteer all our time at animal shelters and animal rescue organizations. What we can do, though, is help those people who dedicate their lives to saving animals and who raise their voices against animal cruelty. Find out what you can do to save an animal’s life. Besides donating money, there are many other ways you can help - for free.

Inexpensive Presents That Change Lives

One thing you can do to make a difference is to ask your friends and family to donate, in your name, to an animal shelter, a rescue organization, or an organization that fights cruelty against animals.

To help in this end, here is a list of groups and animal protection organizations accepting donations. There is no magic amount to donate. Any amount is greatly appreciated by the recipients. Another way you can help is to tell everyone you know about puppy mills.

About This Website

My name is Zoltan and I run this website as a non-profit project to help animals, especially dogs. Since I work with computers I have the resources to run this site at a very low cost. I am not associated or affiliated with any organization listed on this website. The only reason why I do this is because I want to help animals and raise awareness that they should be treated with the same respect as we expect treatment from others.

I especially detest puppy mills and chaining dogs. If you wish to help putting an end to dog factories and chaining please donate to StopPuppyMills.org, PetShopPuppies.org, DogsDeserveBetter.com or another organization of your choice that helps animals.

The idea of helping animals using the money we would otherwise spend on gifts was inspired by a 9 year old girl who asked her friends and family the donate to their local Humane Society for her birthday. At age 9 she is surely more excited about birthdays and Christmas presents than grown ups but she decided that saving the lives of animals will make her happier than anythinig else. Wow.

Donation news: DonateToDogs.org owner Zoltan Wagner donated $500 to the Humane Society of the United States (http://stoppuppymills.org/) to support their mission to close down puppy mills. This donation is his christmas gift to friends and family this year.

Yesterday we adopted Olive, a 4 month lab-cross from the Hamilton, ON animal shelter. She is originally from Louisiana and who knows what she had been through - such a young dog ending up in Ontario from southern US. She is really happy though and active, we are getting lots of tail wagging already, which is in great part due to our 2yr old golden retriever who makes her new little sister feel at home. At the adoption center they told us that they were short of leashes so I gave them 10 new leashes and matching collars and big bucket of milkbones to thank them for what they do. A big cheers for all the workers at animal shelters - you are the best!

I live in Sri Lanka. There are so many puppies, cats, dogs on the roads. Because people throw sick puppies and dogs to the roads. I am keeping ten of them in my place and look after them. There are so many others. How can I get some help to feed them / give medicine and give shelter to these innocent dogs and to organize some seminars to educate the people? Please publish this situation on your website and try to get me some help from animal lovers in your country.
